GUIDELINES ON HOW TO ANSWER YOUWIN QUESTIONS | YOUWIN .ORG .NG
As a result of our vision to raise 100 millionaire young entrepreneur winners from the YouWin 3 business plan competition, we have packaged these questions to help as many young people who are willing to take and maximize this opportunity.

If you’re planning to apply for this year’s YouWIN! Business Plan Competition, it is important that you start preparing your answers ahead of time. Submission of the business plans will commence on November 25, 2013 with the presidential launch.

The first stage of the YouWiN! 3 Business Plan Competition only requires that you submit a concept note for your business idea. The YouWiN! 3 Business Plan Competition concept note is not as elaborate as a business plan. You only need to answer a few basic questions that will help the committee decide whether they should read your full business plan.

Questions You Should Expect in YouWiN! 3 Business Plan Competition Concept Note
Note the number of words you are expected to use in answering the questions asked. You could use fewer words but not more than required. In fact, the website will not allow you to save and/or submit your application if you have exceeded the maximum number of words.

In a way, this is both beneficial to you and the committee. You are forced to summarize your business idea as much as possible; and the committee is able to evaluate all business concepts in the shortest time available to decide winners.

1. About Your Business
The first question you need to answer is to describe your business and to select what industry sector your business belongs.

2. Marketing Plan
Here, there are 3 questions each of which allows a maximum of 50 words:
-What benefits of the product or service enables your business to stand out from your competitors?
-Does this meet a particular need or demand (your competitive advantages, if any)?
-Name five of your existing or expected top customers. How will you attract these customers to your point of sale?



3. Business Management
The main aim of this competition is to create jobs in Nigeria. So, your business must be capable of providing sustainable jobs in order to win this competition. Most of the current Youwin awardees own businesses that are employing close to 10 new employees on the average. You should factor this into your overall business plan.

The questions here are:
-How many new, full-time (or equivalent) staff will be employed in the business 12 months from receiving the first stage award?
-Describe the benefit you and your proposed staff will bring to the business, including: expertise, track record in the industry and management experience. [maximum of 50 words expected]



4. Your Product
This section will test your knowledge of the business you are proposing. Each of the questions asked below require a maximum of 50 words. Bear in mind that every business is either selling a product or providing a service.

-Name your three largest existing/expected competitors. Which, if any, have a localized presence or distributor network?
-Describe the materials you will need to create your product or service. Are these materials readily available, at the right price and quantity, in your locality? If yes, please describe any relevant information.
-Is there an existing or expected lead time for manufacture, set-up, harvest or breeding? If yes, give estimated lead times for each product.
-What risks or challenges might affect the success of your business, including: licences and accreditation (what can stop you from making this business a success)? How will you reduce or mitigate these risks?



5. Profitability of Your Business
Here they’ve asked three questions to determine this:
-What are your current and expected sales within the next 12 months (units and income)? If there is any seasonality, please explain. [maximum of 50 words is expected]
-What amount of sales, in Naira, must you achieve to reach profitability? [Amount in Naira. Enter numbers only: If none, enter 0]
-When do you expect to achieve this (how many months after receiving your first grant award)?



6. How Much Money Do You Need?
You can ask for a minimum of N1m and a maximum of N10m.

You are required to give four short answers here:

Whatever amount of money you’re asking for, you should be able to state clearly what you will be spending the money on.

9. Saving And/Or Submitting Your Application

 19 year old Nigerian homeless man has been arrested in Italy for killing a 60 year old woman. Nwajiobi Donald  strangled Caterina Susca with a plastic bag over her head in her home in Bari, on Monday November 11th. Unknown to him, a neighbor took his pictures as he left Susca’s house after the murder. Nwajiobi Donald confessed to the murder on November 14th after he was arrested by police who confronted him with numerous pieces of incriminating evidence collected in the hours immediately following the crime.
 Reports had it that, the victim was found semi-naked with a plastic bag over her head and her skull crushed in. Donald killed the woman in self defense after she attacked him with a pair of scissors in her home. Nwajiobi Donald, who is homeless, claimed he met the victim on the morning of the incident and asked her for food; the lady asked him to follow her home with a promise to give him something to eat only to attack him but investigators believe Donald was trying to steal from the woman and when caught in the act, attacked and suffocated her with a plastic bag after beating her up. Police say some money and a phone was stolen from the deceased.

In the course of his on-going visit to London for a meeting of Nigeria’s Honorary International Investors’ Council, President Goodluck Ebere Jonathan became indisposed and could not be present at the opening of the meeting today. President Jonathan has since been examined by competent medical practitioners. He has been advised to rest for a few days.

Ice Prince has announced that former lawmaker and Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, popularly known for his jaw breaking English words, will be hosting the Fire of Zamani, FOZ, Concert which will hold on Saturday, November 23 at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos

The State Security Service (SSS) today in Abuja paraded five suspected Boko Haram members alleged to have planned deadly attacks on Igala, Kogi State.

Among the suspects were Dr. Mohammad Nazeef Yunus, an Assistant Lecturer in Arabic and Islamic Studies at Kogi State University.  He was said to be the Spiritual Leader and Coordinator for Boko Haram in the State, and the leader of the gang.

Nazeef, who was born in Idah, Kogi State, attended the Arabic Central Primary School in that town, and El-Kanemi College, Maiduguri.  He also studied at the Islamic School, University of Medina, in Saudi Arabia and served in the National Youth Service Corp in 1995 at Al-Iman Secondary School, Dogon Dutse, in Jos.

Nazeef earned a Masters Degree in Arabic from the University of Jos.  Just last year, he earned a Ph.D in Islamic Studies from Kogi State University.  

Also arrested by the SSS were Umar Musa (Instructor), Mustapha Yusuf, Ismaila Yunusa, Mohammed Nasir, and Ibrahim Isa. 

SSS spokesperson Marilyn Ogar said the suspects were planning to carry out an attack on Igala Land but were arrested at Zuba white mosque near Abuja on their way to Zambisa in Maiduguri for training.  They were also going to install Sharia in Kogi State.    

Umar Musa (Head of Operations/Instructor) confessed publicly that he was employed by Boko Haram as Instructor after he lost his job with the state teaching hospital, and was taken to the Sambisa camp of the sect for a week’s training on handling weapons.  He said he was deployed to the education unit of the camp as Munzi (instructor) and placed on a monthly salary of N50,000. He further stated that he and Yusuf later returned from Sambisa and re-united with Nazeef in Kogi State where they plotted to carry out violent attacks in Igala land.  He maintained that Nazeef appointed him the Head of Operations and munzir.

Mustapha Yusuf (Armourer/Chief Courier) and Ismaila Abdulazeez (Foot soldier) confessed that that Nazeef was their teacher who teaches them Jihad and Islamic Sharia.     

Ogar told newsmen that the suspects will soon be charged to court.

A secret informant has told Sahara reporters that former ASUU President Professor Festus Iyayi who reportedly died in a fatal car crash involving Kogi State Governor’s convoy was killed by policemen.

The source claimed that the injuries found on the late writer’s chest were consistent with gunshot injuries and that a bullet did pierce his heart.

A High Court in Effurun, Delta State, has sentenced a 24-year-old secondary school student, Moses Akatugba, to death by hanging for stealing mobile phones and  recharge cards. Read the report below and tell us if you think the sentence is appropriate or too harsh

"Akatugba was convicted on a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery in contravention of Section 6 (b) and punishable under section 1 (2) (a) of the Robbery and Firearms  (Special Provisions) Act Cap R11 Volume 14 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
