The Hindu temple town of Vrindavan, a few hours south-east of Delhi, is known by another name locally: it's called the city of widows.
While most come here to find religion, many come because they have nowhere else to go. Others are just dumped here by families who no longer want to pay for their care.
Sixty-five-year-old Shakti Dasi from Agartala in north-eastern India is one. She came here eight years ago when her husband died.
.
Her sons no longer want her, she says.
"It's a struggle to survive, but I can manage on very little. Like everyone else, I too hoped that my children would grow up to take care of me, but they didn't. So I had no choice but to come here."

Diamonds big enough to be
worn by Hollywood film stars could be raining down on Saturn and
Jupiter, US scientists have calculated.
New atmospheric data for the gas giants indicates that carbon is abundant in its dazzling crystal form, they say.Lightning storms turn methane into soot (carbon) which as it falls hardens into chunks of graphite and then diamond.
These diamond "hail stones" eventually melt into a liquid sea in the planets' hot cores, Dr Kevin Baines University of Wisconsin-Madison
The biggest diamonds would
likely be about a centimetre in diameter - "big enough to put on a ring,
although of course they would be uncut," says Dr Kevin Baines, of the
University of Wisconsin-Madison and Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
He added they would be of a size that the late film actress Elizabeth Taylor would have been "proud to wear"."The bottom line is that 1,000 tonnes of diamonds a year are being created on Saturn.
"People ask me - how can you really tell? Because there's no way you can go and observe it.
"It all boils down to the chemistry. And we think we're pretty certain."

Zimbabwean woman who breastfed a neighbour’s baby without her consent faces a possible two-year sentence for deliberately infecting another person with HIV after she tested positive.
Annie Mpariwa who is 39-year-old appeared in court on Wednesday the case was deferred to October 24 in order to allow a second HIV test to be performed
The child’s initial results were negative. Mpariwa was arrested last week on charges of common nuisance and should the child test positive; then the charge will be raised to “deliberately infecting another person with HIV”.
The mother of the 14-month-old baby said seeing her child being breastfed by her neighbour was traumatizing. She alleged that her neighbour snatched the child while she was playing outside and hid her in her room. After searching for the child for quite some time, she went and knocked on Mpariwa’s rented room and got no response.
Upon peeping through the window, she saw her breastfeeding the little girl. I was shocked. I nearly fainted,” she said, adding that her breasts were leaking milk yet she was not a nursing mother or pregnant. The incident comes in the wake of a newly enacted law on HIV and Aids that calls for stiffer penalties on people who deliberately infect others with HIV.

1. Be
mindful of your expectations.
2. Don’t
listen to women that tell you that passion fades…it doesn’t have to!
3. Give
your husband the gift of your respect. He needs it more than you know.
4. Love
is about relationship.
The more I love my husband, and seek a relationship with him, the less
critical and duty-bound I become.
5. Don’t
compare!! Don’t buy into
the game of comparing him with anyone else’s husband.
